Such a good point there. Lots of characters who get arcs like that in tv shows turn evil, Gunn never lost the mission - even when he was completely defeated by the whole situation & wanted to give up - his version of giving up was him suffering in a hell dimension & having his heart cut out everyday so that Lindsay could go free & help Angel in the fight against evil.
