Matt Murdock is the man trying to singlehandedly trying to save Hell's Kitchen. He is a lawyer by day, masked vigilante by night. Blinded when he was a kid by a radioactive spill, his other senses become heightened, but he is still vulnerable to pain and injury, as seen when Claire finds him half-dead in the dumpster outside her apartment.

Claire Temple is the woman who inadvertently became Matt's constant night nurse. Finding him in the dumpster, she brings him into her apartment and patches him up, leading to a comfortable pattern the two fall into where Matt comes to her with his injuries. Her connection with Matt can lead her into trouble at times though.
