The two part conclusion to Roswell is called Pursuit and Turnabout.
The basic premise of Pursuit is the Special Unit captures the Dupes,
including AVA,
when they escape. The special unit get tired of tracking and chasing after
the Pod Squad, so they decide
to kidnap all of their parents. At the end of Pursuit, not knowing their
parents were kidnapped, they decide
it's time to fight back.
"Turnabout" picks up with the Evans' being kidnapped. Basically the first
120 pages of Turnabout is
nothing but a rehash of the entire Roswell series. You really don't have to
pick up Pursuit, to understand what's
going on. This is one of the things that made the book such a chore to
read - beyond the bad writing.
Phillip planned ahead of time for this possibility and had a lawyer friend
who had all the evidence
on the special unit. They managed to warn Valenti, so he and AD got away,
they went to Utah?
to hide out with What's Her Name (Michael's relative, sorry I forgot her
name.) To make a long story
short, "Turnabout" features a whose-who of Roswell, almost EVERY guest star
they've ever had
appears in this book including Kivar (very stupid scene), The Dupes, Lauri
Dupree, River Dog,
Valenti's FBI Friend Susan (in a stupid line in the book, she says she's a
"Black Lesbian," I was
ready to throw the book in the trash, that was so stupid and unecessary),
Brody, Jesse and
Karl Langley (Hollywood Guy). Although I do think Susan was probably the
best part
of the entire book, along with Brody.
Now here are the answers to what everyone wants to know -
1) Kyle does develop powers. His power is dreamwalking, and to serve as
sort of an "power boost" for
Isabel. He loses (along with Liz) his powers at the end due to what happens
in point number 2. But Max saves him again, so as
Kyle says "He'll have to come up with a whole new origin story."
2) The Pod Squad gets the Special Unit off their back, by using Kyle,
Isabel, and Ava's mind warping power
to erase every special unit agent's mind (in the entire WORLD!!!!). Using
this amount of power wiped out all the
Alien communicators, and tracking devices on earth. So it's now impossible
for other Aliens
track down the Pod Squad (but wouldn't newer visitors bring their own
equipment?). And they probably made
a lot of new enemies as well, because now no Alien Communicators work.
3) It turns out that not only are their Antarians on earth, but a boatload
of other races as well. Most are people, and just
came to earth to escape the interplanetary war.
4) Brody helps the Pod Squad by giving them money, access to the Media
resources, if
Karl Langley doesn't help. They do tell Brody the truth at the end of the
book.
5) Max and Liz get remarried at the end of the book and have a "big"
wedding with all their
friends and family. They eventually leave to go on a cross country road
trip.
6) Isabel and Jesse return to Boston.
7) Langley tells Michael that he should come to Hollywood, that he can turn
him into the
next "Mel Gibson" and teach him how to better control his powers. He offers
Mariah a
record deal to "do her kind of music, her way." So they both agree to go
together, and
stay at Langley's mansion.
8) Both Lonnie and Rath die. I won't say how, it's pretty grotesque what
they did to Lonnie. But in the
end they did make you feel sorry for those two.
9) Ava ended up staying in Roswell, and most likely she and Kyle will have
a relationship - based
on the ending of the book.
10) At Max and Liz's reception, Valenti publically proposes to Amy, and of
course she says
yes.
