If you're talking about the Thor movies, I have an opinion on that which you can re-post on the next thread when you make it.
I'll put it in spoiler tags:
Spoiler:
I think the problem with the Jane character is that in the comics she was the love interest of Dr. Donald Blake, who was Thor's human identity during the time when he had his memory taken from him by Odin and was living on Earth believing that he was a mortal man, and had no memory of being the God of Thunder. It wasn't until some time after Thor found Mjolnir and regained his power that he regained his memories as well. I think that Marvel Studios made a mistake in not using the Donald Blake storyline in the movies because that not only humanized Thor and gave him more depth(as well as a reason for wanting to defend Earth and its people), but it also deepened the connection between him and Jane. By removing that storyline I think they oversimplified Thor and Jane's relationship, as well as Thor's entire character. I just think the writers at Marvel Studios don't know what to do with Thor apart from the Avengers. They need to put people who know the Thor comics in charge of those movies.
