You can put people on your ignore list. You won't see their posts, and they won't be able to send you PM's.
User CP, left side of page, the last item under Settings & Options, Edit Ignore List
The other option would be to choose to only receive PM's from Contacts (people you have on your friends list) & Moderators. That's on the Edit Options page.
Of course just because a member sends you a PM, doesn't mean you're under any obligation to respond to it. It's probably best to give some sort of response to a PM from a Moderator or Management.
