I am wondering about this too. The only thing I can come up with is that there is something in Regina's magic that the Snow Queen herself does not posess and she needed it to add to that larger mirror in order for it to be whole again. Maybe this is the same mirror that when shattered causes people to be evil and see others as evil too. That would likely require dark magic. Or maybe it has a different purpose? I'm guessing it will come up again in ep 8 since that is "Smash the Mirror".
I am growing tired of Regina being put in Darth Vader choke holds. They did that with Zelena too. Shouldn't she at least be capable of holding her own against these villians? I don't like it when they keep making her appear weak compared to villians like Zelena and the Snow Queen.
