I loved that part, too. I always love when they emphasize that, although many people might look at Leonard and Penny and think that he's lucky she's with him, she considers herself lucky and she enjoys when she has his approval - especially when it's for something other than her looks. I have a feeling that all of Penny's past boyfriends probably never complimented her on anything else - assuming they even complimented her on that.
