I agree there's no score to settle, but some Mary stans, francis haters thing there is, so they might be into it.
Conde seems like season 1 Bash until he gets interesting later. His description when sean was first casting was he has an interested was that he had an interesting friendship with francis and takes a shine to Mary. My first thought was, oh you mean Bash? Not that I want to see a Mash repeat. But it makes zero sense that Mary would lean on this new guy when she could just lean on Bash. Both are francis's relatives who are close to francis. I don't see the need to trade out one for the other especially since she has history with Bash.
