I guess it's because I love the show more than I love M/M. Tbh, period dramas isn't my thing. I watched this show mainly for Dame Maggie and since then I've loved it and the show has changed my perception about period dramas. This is my opinion but I think D.A. (in terms of writing) is still one of the best out there and there are a lot of really crappy shows right now. And I'm older so my preferences have changed too.
