They were the first couple I ever shipped, before I knew what shipping was or that it even had a name. I actually watched a fair bit of Angel before I got around to BtVS, and I was instantly drawn in by their quirky friendship and quiet support of each other, no dramatics or cliches. B/A just seemed so overdramatic in comparison when I eventually watched Buffy, I don't buy the so called epic love at first sight couples. I much preferred watching Angel and Cordelia's relationship grow and strengthen, it was enchanting to see how naturally she could make broody Angel smile just by being herself, and she called him on his crap and refused to let him drown in his darkness. She was exactly what he needed, his perfect match. S4 tore my heart in half, but at least they got a wonderful episode in S5 to make up for all that, their love for each other was so clear. I just wish they'd gotten a chance at being together properly, even just for a little while.
