I just feel like, JD would never write Paily reuniting as if they were doing it because Alison was shady. It's like JD said, Emily's changed. She's not the Emily who was once in love with Alison.

Totally agree with this. I can't see them wasting time and writing them back together as a 'just because' kind of thing, you know? I don't see it, even if it may seem that way from our point of view because of Paige's absence. We don't know what this little talk of feelings is going to be about with Emily and Ali or what other things are going to be happening. We didn't expect anything from 5x07 and look what we got. Something else like that could happen in one of the next episodes.
It feels like there has been a lack of build up but there really hasn't been. There was more of that in season 3, IMO. I didn't expect them to get together so soon then but they did. But this season has actually been pretty good for them compared to last season. They've established a friendship and have both reached out to one another when they were needed. Plus Emily has clearly shown she still cares for Paige since that kiss with Ali. For me that whole thing was a 'Now or Never' kind of moment. Emily had been waiting to know for a long time if her feelings were ever reciprocated and Alison picked the PERFECT moment to tell her they were. Emily took the chance she was offered and IMO her confusion since then is that...maybe nothing was there? The spark or whatever she had felt before was gone. The mystery of it all finally came to an end and there was nothing left to do about it. But the problem is that Emily still feels obligated to Alison and I think that's what she is going to realize in these next few episodes, like mama said, she can't keep saving her and putting herself and others in danger. I know it doesn't sound great but Alison's upcoming lies and shadiness could very well push Emily back in Paige's direction but I don't really think it has anything to do with romantic feelings, but just cutting the cord finally and letting Alison deal on her own. Stop focusing on what Alison wants and needs but what she herself wants and needs. If that makes sense?

After reading Lindsey's interview I'm actually not so worried about Paige finding out anymore. I think she would be hurt, but in the end, Paige loves Emily and would understand what she was going through. If the end result is Emily coming through all this stronger and more sure of her feelings for Paige, then it all just works to build an even stronger bond between them.

I think as long as Paige finds out directly from Emily it won't be a problem. Technically they weren't together anyways, but I'm sure that doesn't mean it won't sting of course. The other good thing, like you said, is that the Alison cloud that loomed above them will finally be gone. I just hope Emily doesn't hide it from her, even if unintentionally.
Also now that Emily is going to be the assistant and all I'm going to need some Paige flirting and calling her coach.
