So we got scenes, but we didn't get the little touching things that would make them awesome.

Yeah, I see your point, they take too many things as granted while it'd be nice to see them
Plus, it's not like we pretend so much, Elena asking Damon if he's ok it's not so difficult to be put in the episode, it doesn't require so much
The Sarah-murder was pointless as much as her nephew existence
Elena didn't hate Damon so much for it and it changed nothing, so why write it at all?
