I agree with the first sentence. Booth had no choice but to shoot Pelant because he was about to blow them up but it happened so fast. I didn't really think he was dead. I would have like Booth at least checking his body to make sure that he wasn't breathing anymore.

I found it WAAAAY too easy, like they built up his character so much, just to kill him off like that? Didn't like the way it pan out, to be honest.
Exactly, he didn't even check his body! Sure, it WAS a head shot but after all they've been through you'd at least think he'd double check.
