I think ending up together would've been a far stretch. Karen was really vulnerable because she was pregnant and just needed someone there. Plus with Lucas' depression and losing Keith just put her in a spot where she would have trusted just about anyone.
I think it's really sad that Dan carried the secret as long as he did. And if it weren't for Lucas to keep pressing for details and Abby coming forward, Dan would've just never told anyone. But as the series went on, it was only a matter of time before the grief would've eaten him up inside.
