I don't know we are talking about the land of Fairy Tales. There could be another character outside of Bae and Pinocchio who were largely unaffected by the curse and transversed realms because if he's not I really want to know what the heck August/Pinocchio was toting around and why he didn't show that to Emma in the first place.

Emma had been shipped to the real world as a baby in a blanket without any memory of her homeland, grown up in modern foster care system, so August can't make her see things "differently" if she didn't believe in magic at the first place. Only her "destiny" can lead her to Storybrooke and break the curse. The process must be spontaneous, otherwise it wouldn't work.
