There are actually several different early versions of the story, and it's not until Perrault and the Grimm versions that the names Aurora and Briar Rose are used. (And Aurora is the name of Sleeping Beauty's daughter).
The Disney film mixed the Grimm and Perrault versions, and used both names for the same character. Possibly, if they've done research, they're going for the same thing on Once, with Aurora being the daughter of another Sleeping Beauty.
