Yeah I re-watched the scene and they don't say it explicitly, I guess I assumed it too; but on a second more close re-watch of that scene, I'm thinking she might not have been because at one point she holds a picture of Brenn and says they both had bad parents or something like that ... I think she was just friends with her.
