I like how each family relates with each other completely differently. The Baratheons aren't at all lovey dovey, but they are still realistic. There are families like that. Each brother has an unconventional and complicated relationship with the others and they've managed to form a type of family relationship with someone outside of the biological family (Robert with Ned, Stannis with Davos, and Renly with Loras) which is interesting.

One thing I wish the show had left in was Stannis' resentment over Robert's more traditional brotherly love for Ned (the brother he chose). He was really hurt/offended that Robert asked Ned to be Hand of the King instead of him. If he had picked Stannis instead, everything would have gone a lot better for everybody. My Starks would have stayed at home together and Stannis would have been completely merciless with exposing Cersei and Joffrey.

But then there'd be no story
