They haven't explicitly said Diana is John's daughter. Only that she is a descendant. I'm still holding out hope that Elizabeth is John's sister, that way Diana can be Charles daughter....but it's likely Charles hatred of John basically stems from John stealing Elizabeth from him and now he's raising a child who isn't his....
