It was Belle who ended up liking or loving him for who he trully is. This was the whole point of the Beauty and the Beast episode. Emma hasn't even met his true self and yet you already know she could love him. Besides adults can talk to each other and like each other without falling in love.
Because yes I believe Gold likes Emma, but in a purely platonic way, no physical attraction there.

I can't see the chemistry, sorry. Even if that was needed, the actress playing Emma can't really build up chemistry, she couldn't do it with Graham or the Stranger, let alone with Gold. Sure their scenes and dialogues are good but it is because of good writing and because of him. What you are mistakenly taking for chemistry is his charisma.
