I think they were just two different people, I dont think that JOey would've acted differently with anyone, it wasnt just a Pacey/Joey thing. Season 4 was a season where Joey was about to reach a dream of getting out of Capeside and going to a really good college and sometimes every little test does matter. I just think that as far as being supportive and nurturing at every turn is a Pacey thing, not so much a Joey thing. It really comes down to personality type and I think it may have been amplified in this scenario because Pacey and Joey were at two ends of the educational spectrum. So I supose you could say that there were a LOT of instances where Joey could've been a lot less selfish.
