Hwland Reed is the head of the house Reed, the Lord of Greywater Watch and holds dominion over the crannogmen of the Neck who are bannermen of the Starks, he is also a childhood friend of Ned's and Lyanna's as well. Most likely he is descended from the children of the forest, as are all crannogmen, who were the inhabitants before the first men(The Starks). He's short, has moss green eyes and can fight like the devil.


Of the 6 compainions that rode out with Ned and the three members of the Kingsguard who defended the tower only Howland Reed and Ned survived. Ned claims Reed saved his life from the famed Ser Arthur Dayne.


No matter how you slice it the story is very tragic. No matter who Lyanna loved or didn't love... she was a heart breaker it seems.
