I thought I'd resurrect this thread. I'm applying to graduate school at the moment but I've decided that if I don't get in, I'm going to plan a thru-hike on the Appalachian Trail to start June of 2012. So, I figure this thread is going to be a great resource. Anyone planning any backpacking or hiking trips anytime soon? I know it's fall and is getting cold, but sometimes, with a fire and a heavy sleeping bag and tent, it's nicer to camp in the cold.
