They are. Because usually season 1 is like, what makes everything popular. And season 2 is them trying to sustain that popularity through contrived BS. And by season three they've figured out some stuff works and other stuff doesn't, and are more prepared to explore the stuff that does, and they often do it awesomely.
And season 4 or 5 is usually where it all goes to ****.
