Yes, I do think that Rose would have done pretty much anything short of bringing about the end of the world to get back to the Doctor. Your Mileage May Vary on whether or not this is an admirable character trait, but I admire Rose for going “F THIS” and going out there and building dimension cannons and time machines and helping Donna save the world and fighting off Daleks.... while also getting her man. She could have sat around pining or settling for second best, but she didn’t and I love it. It almost fulfills a very male archetypal storyline in a way—the man who takes that long path home to get back to his beloved. Like Odysseus. I hated Odysseus – why did he get to out and have adventures while Penelope stayed at home fighting off suitors? But I am oddly unbothered by the Doctor pining for two years while listening to Snow Patrol and sometimes burning and genociding things while Rose decided to find a non-universe-ending-way to get back to him.
