I think Kate already made her choice when she left Jack at the temple and I believe Jack realized it too. I think Jack's feelings for Kate are being made clear this season for when he sacrifices himself in the finale because they have a lot of work to do if they want to stamp out the dislike in this fandom for the characters of Jack and Kate.
By this I mean, Kate has to make a choice and I think she already did in her own episode. And Sawyer needs time to get over his guilt and Juliet's death, then by the time that happens I am sure we'll see Skate again.
I also as equally sure that Jate is over from Kate's side. Yeah, I said it, lol. I think any unresolved issues from them has to do with Jack because otherwise, why is Kate always choosing someone before Jack? Whether it's her promise to Sawyer, Aaron or Claire.
