I wish I was organized enough to have a process.
Typically what happens is I'll have an idea and need to base the whole story around it - maybe a one liner, or a concept - but I have to have that before I can go forward.
It also depends on what I am writing. Gratuitous sex scenes flow a lot faster than dialogue. So I don't need as much planning if they are just gonna do it.
