I don't feel guilty about spending a lot of money and I espicially don't feel guilty about other people spending money on me.
My family are prodominately atheists so religon does not come into it at all.
To me, Christmas is always prodominately about family and food. It's about showing your love and warmth for each other, letting loose and remembering that life can be lovely. It's the day where you can forget about work, put you worries on the backburner and eat and drink whatever the hell you want.
...basically, it's the one day of the year when everybody is in a hell of a good mood and it's perfectly acceptable to eat chocolate for breakfast.
