Lucas pulled out of the SAG, DG and SWG during the filming of Empire strikes back because of some bad blood. Needless to say, it's still not reconciled.
As for the sound, I've heard of sound problems, Lucas won't admit to it, but for those that love sound (not me) it is distracting.
