No way they might go with violence here. Spike didn't have a soul when he did that, and anyway the debacle that whole thing was should've taught every writer out there to never attempt anything even similar.
Remember when we mentioned the possibility of Sawyer trying to shoot Jack? Well, that was a real possiblity compared to this.
