After watching that particular scene I think I kinda understand why Nathan said that he doesnt know what he would have done if Peter was dead.
No matter what Peter always sees Nathan as the good guy. I think Nathan need that because he sees himself as a bastard( or a shark) or (insert bad personality trait here) but having Peter as a little brother really qualifies all that he does to make a difference in the world. At the end of the day all that matters is that his baby brother see him as a good guy.
I doubt that really made sense on the board but it makes sense in my head.
