The season 2 ender was a great episode for all of them...
but it seems that the showrunners were giving us a little forshadowing of what was to come...they primed the viewers for a Pacey/Joey hook-up..
they once again split up all the couples and left the beginning of the next season with a clean slate...and they didn't waste anytime in the season 3 opener...teasing the viewers of what was going to be inevitable..
