I'm not sure what the rule is about poetry posting but here are a couple of poems I wrote inspired by ths week's episode. They're from the point of view of Desmond. (the second one is what I imagine him saying to Penny )

Lost in time

In the blink of an eye
my life changed
everything I knew
everything I was
gone
I was with my love again
was it real
or a trick of the mind
life flashes before my eyes
mine and others
why am I given this knowledge?
Is it true that once the course is set it can't be altered?
all I ever wanted
was to settle down with my beloved
Is that too much to ask?
In a flash I returned
sadder but wiser
I know my place in the grand scheme of life
I have a purpose
for once in my life
I am not a coward
or a failure
are we heading for the abyss?
I pray it's not too late.

If you could see inside my heart
you would understand
my love is true

why I must say goodbye
when all I ever wanted
was to spend my life with you

how much I love you
how much this pains me
how this breaks my heart
this is something I must do
the most important thing I've ever done

I think of you always
treasure the picture
and our time together
long to make things right
