No matter what was coming up in the future, the board activity checks were in April and another one is coming in October. If people wanted to keep their board then it needed at least 100 posts per week average. The Avril board got a 68.75 average. 31.25 average posts short.
These announcements were put up awhile before traffic evaluations, the fans (being the users here) decide which boards stay and which ones don't by showing your interest in the board by keeping it active.
We can't allow exceptions for things like a new album coming out, or a new movie an actor/actress may be in, or a new comic, or anything like that. Traffic evaluations are just that... traffic evaluations, they are done twice a year and this is the outcome.
