Even when a lot of the GoT fandom started championing redemption for Jaime because of his interactions with Brienne, I always personally maintained and argued that he was never actually going to be anything other than a deeply flawed man who would literally do absolutely anything to protect himself, Cersei, and their progeny regardless of who else got hurt, even as he sometimes did the good and noble thing, and that's exactly the same thing I see in Daemon even having only watched one episode.

And speaking of Jaime and Cersei, their story is actually one of the only positives that GoT's ending produced for me even though it ends with their deaths because there was honestly no other way for their story to end.

Their story is also what I'd be paying attention to were my hatred for the ending of GoT abate to the point where I'd ever consider rewatching the series.
