Today I turn 45.
Every year my mom takes a picture of me wearing the “birthday crown,” which is the same crown she wore the night she was crowned Prom Queen in high school - also coincidentally, the same night my dad proposed to her 60 years ago!
This is my first birthday without her. Today I’m filled with gratitude for her, this tradition she started 45 years ago, and all of these priceless pictures. What a gift! The last thing she gave me was this crown. I promised her I would solder the parts that have come loose and keep it safe forever.
