I watched it. I think they made it be her to explain
and to give Jughead/Jones family more misery.
Like this episode felt like the fall of the Jones/Smith/Cooper family. First Charles is made a serial killer, then JB is made the auteur, and what's left is Falice and Bughead which both will probably be broken up soon.
Especially Bughead if/when Jughead finds out Betty cheated on him with Archie, they didn't tell him, and that will be the cherry on top of his misery.
