Exactly. If there had actually bothered to show that Lavon supposedly still had feelings for Lemon before revealing that he was there at the cruise, then I might have been more on board with them. But that's not what happened at all, even till right up before that scene, the writers wanted it to be a plot twist & made it seem like he was going after AB - which made what actually happened a huge disappointment. It could have been such a happy moment for Lavon & AB
