I thought about telling Ms. Sherman-Palladino about all the anti-Melanie sentiment pouring into Ask Ausiello in recent weeks, but I just didn't have the heart. She's a big Melanie fan. "I don't know what the formal wording of the deal is," Amy says, "but he's on the show for the entire season." Question: So, will Lorelai and Emily ever speak to each other again before the season ends? Ausiello: They sure will, although their exchanges will be far from pleasant. Lorelai will even return for a special Friday-night dinner attended by Logan. How do I know this, you ask? Because after I wrapped my guest stint, Amy personally invited me to sit in on a table read for this episode — only the second time she has allowed a journalist this far inside the process. To say the experience ranked among the most exciting 45 minutes of my life is an understatement. I get goose bumps just thinking about it. The biggest laughs were generated by Kelly Bishop (Emily) and Edward Hermann (Richard), who, being the pros that they are, nailed every single one of their line readings as if they had had the script for a month. And they weren't even there in the flesh. Both were teleconferenced in — Kelly from her home in New Jersey and a vacationing Edward from his hotel in Florida. Other interesting tidbits: The episode (No. 20, the one after my cameo) begins with Paris belting out a cover of "I'm Walking on Sunshine," but an embarrassed Liza Weil chose to recite the lyrics instead of sing them in front of her cast mates; Amy's husband, fellow exec producer Dan Palladino, read the role of Logan's father Mitchum in actor Gregg Henry's stead; when Bishop discovered she was missing page 32, Alexis Bledel jumped in and read Emily's lines. Question: Are Rory and Logan getting married on Gilmore Girls? Is that the crisis? Ausiello: Nope. I don't see her taking the job. I think it's to show that Lorelai has options. Many of them. And she's going to have to figure out, what she wants. But in the end, she's going to stay. But we don't know, where the job is, right?
And with Rory and Lorelai. I see Lorelai has confirmed her suspicions about Logan, trying to talk sense into Rory. But Rory won't see it. And there will be rift. And we'll be left yet again, with Rory and Lorelai not seeing eye to eye. And then we'll see Rory come to terms with, the fact Lorelai is right. Or Lorelai is wrong, and Logan will prove her wrong... I think they are showing how Rory is growing up, and she's making mistakes. And sometimes she needs to learn things, the hard way. Like she did with Dean. And now she's faced with the wealthy life, something she is totally not used to. While Lorelai came from that lifestyle. Rory needs to find her own way! |

ok I was just thinking about one little thing:
since this season we`re not seeing all the importand stuff. I just have a creepy feeling about the final. What if when they were this big blow out on FND in the end Lorelai just show everyone her left hand with engagemed ring and it will be the end of the season, and that`s how we will actually find out that Luke and Lorelai get engage, not seeing the actual proposial........  ?__________________

Thanks for the new thread! I thought about a job Lorelai could be interested in and that would involve travelling: Maybe she gets a job, where she advises people having an inn or wanting to open one- that would mean she might have to travel. Just a thought...

I have to give Amy this-she really knows how to give me a headache with all the speculating I've been doing. I mean, this whole Lorelai gets offered a job thing-GAH! Will she and Luke get in a huge fight and she asks Richard if the position is still available to get away from Luke? Nah, that's not something Lorelai would do and it's too reminiscent of Rory going to Europe with Emily. Is it all just a huge red herring? How could she leave the Inn? I need aspirin.

all this speculation makes me think that we will be the f*#^$d up ones at the end...not the Gilmore clan

So...the job offer is for Lorelai. I think, judging by the impatient smile on her face in the previews, her actual entertainment of the thought of taking the job probably lasts about as long as a box of pop-tarts in her house. Or, given that she apparently receives the call while at Luke's apartment for dinner, it probably has no impact at all as Luke sets a plate of food in front of her.
