In sucky news, I didn't get the house. I had the best offer but someone had cash. Impossible to top that. We think they had cash and plan on renting the house out. Ah, well. Such is life.

Aw Linds, I'm so sorry about the house. :/ I hate to dwell on stuff like this but I hate even more that the people probably aren't even going to live in it. To me this means that there's a better house out there that is more suited for you than this one was (Yes, I'm one of those, lol). Hopefully you find it soon.

I know, it does suck that the people prob. won't even live there. Rent houses are often trashed because people treat things differently when something isn't theirs. That's been my experience at least.

But I appreciate the positivity! Everyone in my life had similar responses, and I'm choosing to believe them. This wasn't the one because it wasn't. I'm going see a house tomorrow that I really, really like - maybe even more than the other... but I like the area less. Gotta weigh the pros and cons, I guess.

Hopefully you won't have to compromise anything to get what you want, even though usually you do.

Yeah, I think I will have to compromise a bit, which I guess isn't the worst thing. I don't feel like you can get EVERYTHING you want unless you buy the lot and build it yourself, which... no m'am. I don't have the time or patience, lol.

I'm heading to the house in about a half hour. I'll def. let you guys know how it goes!

Yes, house hunting is insane. And you are right about basically building your own if you want to have everything to fit your needs. Which is not practical for a lot of people.

Update on the ridiculousness that is my life right now: I liked the house, but the realtor was under the impression it wasn't in a flood zone and it is, so! Afford it, I cannot. This is the most frustrating process I've ever gone through. Just sayin'.

Oh, and work is a nightmare right now. There are not enough hours in the day.

So sorry Linds. If it is in a flood zone, does that mean you would have to buy the insurance? Or would you buy flood insurance regardless?
