I'm surprised, I thought The Big Bang Theory would be the muse of this thread they make a Star Trek reference every single episode, basically.
I must confess, I know pretty much nothing about Star Trek, but lately I've been interested in it because of The Big Bang Theory |

Hi Nitinha. It's nice to see you drop by. I don't currently watch any sit-coms, but maybe I'll have to give that show a try. All I know about it is that the theme song is by the Barenaked Ladies.

I've seen a couple of The Big Bang Theory episodes and they're cute. However, it's on at the same time as The Sarah Connor Chronicles and that takes precedence in my house.

Hi, Chris, thanks
Yes, History of Everything, very nice song Last episode Sheldon defined their group as each one being a member of Star Trek and the Indian guy (Rajesh) was "the guy who always get killed" |

dukesmom - yes, we have to have our priorities. I have to admit that I lost interest in Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Nitinha - I take it Rajesh isn't popular since they made him the "red shirt"? __________________

Yeah, I guess you can put it that way
it's because he doesn't talk much and is shy and usually forgotten by the others, but he's popular among the fans of the show. He's one of my favorites |

Did anyone watch the premiere of Leverage last night? It's the new TNT series starring Timothy Hutton. Anyway, not only was Saul Rubinek, aka Kivas Fajo of the TNG episode The Most Toys, a guest star, but one of the guys made ST references when undercover as an IT geek. IIRC he said something about working out a lot so he could maintain a buff physique in order to look right as a Klingon at conventions. Then he did a fake Klingon yell.

So, I'm standing in line at the post office and reading The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. When I get to page 117 I read the following:

Woah, that comes across pretty steamy. Trek references usually run more towards the geeky.
Are you enjoying the book? That one is on my list to get around to someday. __________________

The book is interesting. I'm about halfway through right now.
Another surprising ST reference, one that doesn't exactly make sense. I was watching an old CSI:NY episode when Danny referred to a victim's diet as something out of Star Trek. He then said something about moving beyond the need for actual food. The victim's fridge was filled with nothing but bottles - presumably fancy water and whatnot. The thing is, I don't recall any incarnation of ST moving beyond the need for food. |

I started recording The Big Bang Theory after I got my DVR. Anyway, as Nitinha mentioned previously, ST is often referenced. Last night Sheldon received a cloth restaurant napkin that had been used and autographed by Leonard Nimoy. The dude totally freaked out. Said something about only needing viable ovum in order to make a bunch of little Nimoys.
