Here is the question of the day. Does anyone recognize this movie Spock cardboard standee:

I am trying to find out more about what it was for.
If anyone on here can supply any info about this unique piece it is greatly appreciated.
Steve

Is it just me, or do Spock's hands look over sized in that cutout? His face seems to look a bit harsh too.

I will agree that it certainly is different, and in the collecting world sometimes that can, as odd as it may sound, actually be a good thing Here are a few close up pics:

This is what I know about it:
It's a Promotional Standee.
The art is by Ken Goldammer. He has apparently also done some promotional artwork for some Star Wars items as well.
It's printed on thick heavy duty cardboard as all standees usually are.
The standee stands approx. 73" and is approx. 31" wide at the base.

Honestly, we've never really had that many collectors around here. I know of one person who collects the Hallmark Christmas ornaments, but that's about it.

In the close ups, Spock's face looks natural but the hands still seem a bit off.

Geeze, a fan forum for Star Trek with little to no collectors on here?

Ok, well for the upcoming book the deadlines for the picture for the front cover. We are working on trying to show a variety of different levels of collecting on the front cover to attract both new and old collectors alike.
The following are a few shots I took of one of my ideas for a possible cover image:

The idea is to have items pictured that will attract both the newer and older collector. The Mego figures would appeal to old and new alike as they are still fairly common to get even for a new collector just starting out. The Mego Engineering playset would also appeal to both, but would attract the older collector due to it's rarity and uniqueness.
These other shots are just pics I took of the extra accessories that came with the Engineering playset:

Agree that the Mego sets would be a good choice for cover art. Do you ever play with them?

Play with them? Did you say...gasp...play?

LOL

Seriously though, my son Jordan and I do have little adventures from time to time with some of the extra loose things I have. So in a way, the answer is yes.

Did you know that the Playmates Voyager ship can hold it's own against both a Playmates Borg cube and a Playmates Borg Sphere? I didn't either until my sphere and cube attacked Jordans Voyager ship and i couldn't seem to lock onto the ship at all to start carving it into pieces. That Janeway, I'll tell ya, she and her crew are sure quite the adversary for the Borg

Yeah, I realized that mint condition unopened packages would have a higher value to a collector. Still, sometimes it must be hard to resist actually using the items for their intended purpose.

hehe ... yes, Janeway had Seven's inside knowledge.

We are working on the book some more today and I thought I would share a few more pics.
This is a picture of your first hint of what you will see downstairs, looking down the steps into the collection room:

Behind the light up Enterprise-D poster is a lot more Playmates figures on the cards:

We are trying to finish up the action figures section of the book so that is why I have some figures all over the place at the moment:

Some more autographed pictures

A small sampling of the uniforms, jackets and ties
