Wow, that interview is very interesting and insightful. Especially the third part of:

“So what I always look at it in any particular show is, what’s the story underneath the story? If you look at a story about Chuck and Blair, what does it represent in terms of class, in terms of character, in terms of what the characters represent, in terms of what they are, in terms of what their personal whims are and how they intersect? And what’s the story of Blair and Dan, and how does that intersect in terms of class, in terms of personal neurosis… what is the story we’re telling?"

That's exactly what so many Dairling have been alluding to in various posts and analysis. Not only do Blair and Dan have an amazing chemistry and are wonderful to watch together, but just on a a storytelling level, that connection of the UES and Brooklyn classes plus the disintegration of Dan's judgements and Blair's superiority complex, are what make Dair THE couple of the show. The one that I truly believe GG has always been working towards because of how it embodies the core themes of the show. Omg our couple is so flawwwwwless, I can't even handle it!

And OT, I love what he had to say about Ryan and Marissa on the OC. I loved RM, but I felt the exact same way as Norman implied he did -- they had a strong love for each other based on similarities and understanding, but ultimately were not meant to be. Ultimately, Ryan needed (and eventually wanted) to be with someone who was ambitious and secure and happy....he was meant to be with Taylor!

I liked RT, so it's good that they ended up together, in a way at least. But I don't think you can compare RM to CB.

Yup.

I was 11 when it started.

First real fandom, first ship, first everything. I do love SS more though.

But still, it breaks my heart when people compare them to Chuck & Blair.

there are things about both CB and RM that I like, but tbh they're not very similar. marissa was never directly hurtful towards ryan like chuck has been to blair, imo.
