Anyone around for AoGG night?

Okay. . .

So, I started watching it (and I haven't seen it in a really long time), and I forgot how much I love the music! It totally sets the tone/mood of it all. Definitely takes you back a hundred years or so when the times seemed simpler.

And the beginning. . .right there. . . THAT'S our prequel to Anne of Green Gables. Her stay at the Hammonds, Mr. Hammond having the heart attack and dying, being sent to the orphan assylum, and then finally being told she was adopted by people on PEI. Enough said, Mr. Sullivan!

Omg! I forgot how much I loved the introduction of the Lyndes! Every time I hear Rachel Lynde say, "Oh, my afternoon's spoiled!", it reminds me of an alert thing I use to have on my pc at college. And Marilla and Matthew's intros. . .gosh, it really reminded me of how great these actors were. Any time I think of or read about Anne, it's always these actors that flesh them out in my mind.

I love Matthew's line: "It's a girl."
(a beat)
Marilla: "I can see that."

It's just great!

I love when Anne recites the Lady of Shallot. You immediatly understand who she is.

My fave line so far: That's the type that put stricnine in the well.

Sorry if my post is long. . .I'm just making notes as I watch. And I had to break b/c the municipal band was playing across the street (like they do every Tuesday during summer) and then one of my old college roomies called. Anyway. . . .

"Print out A-n-n and it looks absolutely dreadful. But Anne with an E looks quite distinguished."

Coleen/Marilla's dry sense of humor and timing just tickles me. And Matthew's compassion for Anne. . .even though he barely knows her is incredible.

Oooh. . .Mrs. Blewett. . . "Besides, she looks exactly like a gimlet."

"I'll try and do anything you want, if you'll only keep me, Miss Cuthbert."

"She could talk a hind leg off a mule, that's for certain." (a beat) "Wouldn't that be a change around here?"

Rachel: "Lawful heart, her hair's as red as carrots!"
Anne: "How would you like to be told you're fat and ugly and a sour old gossip!"

Wow, I forgot how dramatic young Anne was. She really felt a lot. I don't know if I'd call it emotional or not, but things just seemed more intensfied by her.

Matthew's talk w/ Anne about apologizing. . .so tender! And then letting Marilla think it was b/c of her disciplining.

And Anne's apology to Mrs. Lynde. Poetic and frank. How could you not forgive her?

Oh, Anne just lied! She said her "temper will never get the better of her again." Shame on you, Anne! But then, it's understandable. . .oh Gilbert Blythe, you handsome devil you!

Ah! I love at the end of the scene where Anne and Marilla are talking on their walk back to GG they end up holding hands. . .like a mother and daughter would. I that shot.
