She put it together herself. In the ep before, which was the S2 finale, Clark's parents were kidnapped and the kidnapper wanted Superman to kill Lois in exchange for his parents. She suggested that Superman freeze her to make it look like she was dead and he didn't want to do it but Lois insisted b/c she saw how much Clark was suffering. He reluctantly agreed and before he did it he touched her cheek in the same way he did earlier in the ep and she put it together. Then after she'd been revived Clark proposed to her and she took of his glasses and asked him, "Who's asking? Clark or Superman?" She was upset that Clark took so long to tell her the truth and also that he proposed to her before he told her the truth and things were kind of rocky between them in that ep but they talked it out and were okay by the end of the episodes.

Aw, that sounds like a very nice reveal of his secret. I like it that Lois is always the one who finds out herself.

Not that I can recall...I'm pretty sure that Tess our at least the Tess we saw on SV was exclusive to SV

The character I know about who ressembles Tess is Lilah Morgan from Angel.
She was equally full of awesomness!  I think what makes me love Tess more is Cassidy Freeman. |
