I wonder how long he's been living this way though? I mean, obviously he doesn't have a family, he's always moving around and stays with a foster family c/o Mary Lou. He's also abused as a child perhaps so Mary Lou probably took care of him but then being with her wasn't as good too. There's a whole lot to explore with Credence's past.

Mary Lou knows about his mom you mean? I think I missed that but of course that would make sense since she took care of Credence and probably raised him?

Like how did Mary Lou approach Credence's biological mother or was it the mother that approached Mary Lou? I assume that he's already a troubled child back then considering he was 'given away'.

Yes that's possible that his mother went to Mary Lou so she can take of her son instead. And I guess Mary Lou still didn't allow his powers to manifest so he repressed it and it got worse and worse and thus the Obscurus happened inside of him.

My spec would be is because his no-maj parents freaked out he has magical powers so they gave him up instead.
