MORE SINNED AGAINST
Gutterati Nate Southand emails me with a "Sin City" location report from the upcoming Rodriguez/Millar movie. "A friend of mine worked as an extra on 'Sin City' yesterday, and he had some exciting news. "They were filming the strip club scene. Apparently, this will be the most faithful adaptation of a comic in history, because their shooting script was xeroxed copies of Sin City. They line up the camera to look like the panel, and they shoot. "They're filming 'Sin City, That Yellow Bastard' and 'The Big Fat Kill.' The stories will be cut together 'Pulp Fiction' style. An intro starring Josh Hartnett is from 'Booze, Broads, and Bullets.' "Mickey Rourke as Marv. They used prosthetics to make him true to the comic: square jaw, flat nose, everything. "Nancy hasn't been cast yet. They used a stand in. "Frank Miller is on set." http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=13 |

pretty much the same article as above but hey whatca
The Skinny on Sin City The latest on the big-screen adaptation. April 20, 2004 - Dark Horizons points out a blurb in this week's Entertainment Weekly wherein filmmaker Robert Rodriguez talks about Sin City, the big-screen adaptation of the Frank Miller graphic novel series that Rodriguez is now filming in Austin along with co-directors Miller and Quentin Tarantino. Rodriguez says Bruce Willis is "playing Hartigan, a cop who's retiring. He's got a bad ticker. He might not be 60 (as in the comic), but he'll be up there. We're aging him a little bit – because Bruce, of course, is still badass Bruce." Even more dirt on Sin City can be found at Lying in the Gutters where it's revealed that a heavily made-up Mickey Rourke will portray the series' most well known character, Marv. Furthermore, the three titles reportedly being used for the screen adaptation are Sin City, That Yellow Bastard and The Big Fat Kill. "The stories will be cut together Pulp Fiction style," claims the site. "An intro starring Josh Hartnett is from Booze, Broads, and Bullets." Lying in the Gutters adds that Frank Miller is on the set and that Rodriguez is attempting an almost panel-for-panel adaptation of the graphic novels. http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/50...html?fromint=1 |

News about Sin...
"Wax"/"Sin"/"Gentleman" Casting Meanwhile The Hollywood Reporter indicates that Nick Stahl is joining the already overflowing cast of "Sin City" currently shooting in Austin, Texas. Stahl, who is in final negotiations to join the graphic novel-based feature, will play the dual roles of Junior and Yellow Bastard, and will segue from "Sin" to another season of "Carnivale" for HBO. Teen People 25 Hottest under 25
Josh Hartnett The American Idol We all know how hot Josh Hartnett is, but somehow he keeps it humble. "I realize a lot of people have been labeled tomorrow's star or the next big thing," he said. "But if you start believing that, I think that's the first sign you're in trouble." And he's nowhere near that. In fact, after his heartbreaking turn in Pearl Harbor, Josh resisted taking teen-idol roles. Instead, he rushed toward tackling complex characters in movies like Black Hawk Down and ducked the tabloids by keeping his private life, well, private. Preferring politics to partying and being a homebody to chasing babes, Josh bought a place in his home state, Minnesota--near his high school sweetheart Ellen Fenster--and immersed himself in local affairs, like stumping for late U.S. senator Paul Wellstone. Come this fall, there'll be even more reasons to fawn over this 25-year-old (yep, it's his last year on our list!). In September, he'll play a banker obsessed with a woman who resembles his ex in the thriller Wicker Park, and then he'll appear in two offbeat romances: The Rum Diary, set in '50s Puerto Rico (and starring Johnny Depp), and Mozart and the Whale, in which Josh portrays an autistic man. "I like doing projects that are a little out there," says Josh. Out there or not, Josh will always have a place in here--our hearts! --Wendy L. Wilson www.teenpeople.com |
