Have you noticed that he says her name almost like a prayer?

Spike is saying Buffy there.

He makes her name sound beautiful.

I thought showing a glimpse of what was to come might make you feel better about things.

BtVS may have had a feminist icon as their lead character but it was far from a feminist series. There was so much rape culture and questionable consent and flat out pseudo-rape. There were only a handful of times they admitted something was sexual assault and some of those there was no follow through.

The series that Whedon really messed up with was Dollhouse. It was a great premise and many of the actors (sadly not Dushku) gave powerful performances but he really made it obvious he didn't know what he was talking about or doing when it came to sexual violation.

I should've known with WAY (when Faith bodywapped Buffy against Buff's will) that Whedon was clueless on the many variations of assault. I still do not think that he understands he had Faith rape his protagonist and her boyfriend. That what Faith did was just as bad as what the Trio tried to do to Katrina in S6.

The writers probably dropped the ball on Xander because they felt they fixed things by having him not rape Buffy in s2's BBB. Look, he learned his lesson!

I don't think Faith learned her lesson but late S7 spoilers.

I remember some fans didn't like Buffy not immediately helping him like with Angel.

She wasn't the same naive teenage girl.

Buffy only ended up getting hurt when she did get close to him to quickly again.

I think she was confused and didn't really know what to do but at the same time didn't want to get hurt again.

I think it is good she tried to stay away but couldn't for long.

The connection was too strong.

No more spoilers.

You could consider any spell on anyone or mind wipes rape too.

It wasn't bad so much as......the part just required an actress with more talent. The role demanded versatility. Speaking in different languages, being a singer in one episode, blind in another, a rape survivor in another, a dominatrix, a special agent, etc. She can play certain kinds of characters well but she is not a Jane of all trades. She couldn't pull a Jennifer Garner (Alias) and own the different variations.

Her character was one of the "dolls" so she had her core memories/personality extracted and placed in storage, became a template of a person (kind of like an amnesiac), and each week or so a constructed persona would be inserted into her for clients. And eventually even though each outing persona is extracted she starts to remember them when she is in template or doll mode basically making her like someone with Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personality Disorder.

SMG could do that role easily.

Look how she completely became Faith.

Eliza wasn't as good.

She is best playing a tough girl.

Yeah, I consider some of those rape and others severe violations.

It was a severe violation when Willow wiped Tara's memory and rape when she had sex with her the day after she magically made her forget they were fighting and going to bed angry.

It was a severe violation when Faith tried to force Angel to lose his soul and (had he not been faking to gain intel undercover) all of the kissing and groping that took place while he was "Angelus" would've been considered sexual assault.

Interesting, I've never seen dollhouse!

I used to love Alias and then lost interest.

I liked Sydney/Vaughn.

I might have watched one episode of Dollhouse.

I agree that Sarah could've owned that role. She's played everything from a coke-snorting trust funder to a traumatized pop star to a racist mobster's daughter to an insecure crime-fighter to a grief-stricken lawyer to a romantic at heart chef to an airhead porn actress to a depressed paranormal huntress to a literal automaton.

Ringer could've been a similar vehicle to Dollhouse. Playing two such different characters and the way that she would have to play one character pretending to be another character. It was the writing that stopped her from unleashing her stores of talent. She did nail that French. And we got to see the desperation and heartfelt mea culpa of Bridget while simultaneously seeing the cold bitterness and need for revenge in Siobhan.

I think that Sarah playing the integrated Buffy Summers---girl and Slayer---proved she can switch it back and forth.

Yeah, Eliza should've taken a cue from Michelle Rodriguez. There is nothing wrong with playing what you are good at.
