This one is fairly recent too and post revival.

https://www.fanfiction.net/s/1236669...or-the-Getaway

All of this authors RJ fics are great but wouldn't be surprised if you have already read them.

The author of the one in the previous post is halfway through a post revival fic called Shoulda Woulda Coulda been a Contender where both Logan and Jess could have been the father. It's well written but a bit too Logan heavy for me. Not quite sure where that one is gonna end up though.

Yes, i agree. Rory's scene with Christopher indicates, that she might rise the child alone as a single mother - although everything is still open.

Logan and Rory would never have a totaly happily ever after, their connection is more superficial than her connection with Jess (they have deep understanding and discussions about books), Rory would have to submit to Logan's family's rules and their dynamic (cheating) is not good at all. However, they have "understanding" and they could live together and rise their child together.
In Amy's S7 they would probably have an open long-distanced relationship, but in the end Logan would start serious relationship with a rich girl from Europe and he and Rory would break up .... and then would be Rory pregnant.

Logan and Rory could have a happy life together. But I don't think this thread is the one to have that conversation in. This thread isn't about Logan.

Yes, you are right. I always do it. In Logan's thread I am babbling about Jess and in Jess's thread I am babbling about Logan. I apologize. I'll try not to do it again.

I think, that Rory could be very happy with Jess (if Logan will stay with Odette), but her child would always tie Rory with the Huntzberger family and their set of rules. It would also be very difficult for Jess, because he detests that world, but he would have to restrain some of his believes because of the child.

You are technically correct, however if we want to discuss and debate about what could possibly happen with RJ if they do indeed grace us with more eps then the topic of Logan wil come up. This dam baby saw to that. The three of them are probably going to be intertwined somehow so I think it's fair game. .

And no Rory could never be truly happy long term being in London away from family and friends and having to deal with that awful family. Couldn't think of anything worse.

I choose to believe Scott Patterson theory. Logan will be schmucky and Jess will be there for Rory.

I wouldn't put it past Amy to break all our hearts again though. She can't be trusted.

Yes, but the problem is, that they are already her family too. Rory is a mother of one of Huntzberger's heirs.
Even if she won't tell Logan about the child, sooner of latter someone will discover the truth - and it will be even worse for Rory. So, we can simply soon expect Friday evening dinners with Mitchum and Shira.
Jess or no Jess, Rory is already tied to the Huntzberger clan.

Well, it's possible, that in the end Rory would be with neither Logan nor Jess. Logan and she wouldn't choose each other and Jess would leave Rory, because she would not be a good person (or good enough).

Yes exactly. Let's just keep this thread about Rory and Jess. This discussion can continue in the Noloro thread. Thanks.

I understand. But a few posts don't even mention Jess. Just trying to make sure we use this thread as a RJ appreciation thread.

So we can bag, I mean discuss, Logan when talking about the future of Rory and Jess.

Got it .

I have a night to myself tonight and I just watched Jess's first episode again. It really hit me when Jess says to Rory 'I don't even know you' in their very first scene together. These sort of things make me want to quiz Amy for 6 hours.

I kind of always felt that Amy only bought Jess back in seasons 4 and 6 because of their popularity, and that's when we got Jess's 'I know you better than anyone ' proclamations. However remembering this first scene between them, maybe she had this path planned for them from the very beginning.

Thoughts ?
.

Everything was planed from beginning. Last 4 words, Rory's demise, Jess's deep connection with Rory, which have survived long separation, Logan's different, more formal/superficial connection with Rory.

However, deep connection might not have been between Jess and Rory. It might have been between Tristan and Rory or Rory and someone else. Amy altered the story with the time. For example, she had to take into account the availability of actors: she substituted Dave with Zach, and she substituted Tristan with Logan (or maybe even with Jess?).

So, yes and no. She always planed that Jess's sentence, but if Jess had not been so popular, maybe she wouldn't have included it or she would have altered that line it in some way.

Well I guess if the Rory/Jess relationship didn't prove to be popular they just never would have bought him back at all, and we wouldn't have known any different. I definitely think Jess replaced Tristan. They had already set up the rivalry between him and Dean and his flirtation with Rory. I didn't mind Tristan but he's nothing on Jess of course.

Even though I absolutely love the fact that Amy wanted RJ to have that deep connection, I just really wish we got to see more of it. I mean we heard discussion about them spending weekends and movie nights together but we never got to see it.

When Jess first starts the I know you better than anyone talk I felt like it was plucked out of nowhere. I would have much rather they concentrated on showing us more of that connection in season 3 as opposed to them ruining their relationship so they could write him off, and then telling us he knows her better than anyone after being apart for a year.

I am not complaining by any means, but I did feel it was a bit of a stretch after what they did to them in season 3.

My view of Amy's writing is a little different - maybe even more pessimistic or more optimistic.

Amy writes in such a manner, that most of her most important scenes can be continued (or even interpreted differently) in new installments.
For example -Mitchum Huntzberger tells Rory, that she is not talented for journalism. The interpretation; Mitchum is mean, he hates Rory, because she is with his son. But in revival Rory is a bad journalist. So, there is a new interpretation. Maybe was Mitchum just honest with Rory and she should have listened to him in the first place and start studying something else.

IMO Jess would have been brought back in any case (even if J/R wasn't popular), but maybe he would have said/done something else. Amy brought back many characters (for example Max in OS or Jason in revival).

As for Jess saying to Rory, that "he knows her better than anyone" and the series not showing enough evidence about it - it's intentional in my opinion. In potential new installments Amy could explore all aspects of their connection. And establish, whether the connection from the past is so strong in present too. It could make their love even more romantic. Amy is very good writer, but we could expect a lot of twists and turns from her.

I think seasons 2 and 3 were used to build their friendship, things in common, and their attraction to each other, but I think it was the heartbreaking way they ended and the subsequent big moments in seasons 4 and 6 that really connected them so deeply.

That scene at the firelight festival when, even after an entire year, she is still upset enough to lay into him, and he tells her he loves her is the scene to me that really cements their connection. And of course episode 608 has Amy with her sledgehammer hitting us in the face with it, just in case we didn't get it yet.

Episode 618 also cements it for me when Jess naturally assumes that she is there to be with him, even after all that time and all the hurt they have caused each other. Unfortunately he is ready now but she isn't.

A part of me thinks we are lucky that things worked out the way they did with season 7 and the revival. I really don't think Milo would have agreed to come back in season 7 back then, due to both Heroes and the Alexis situation. He seemed quite bitter at the time for a while there. At least this way he was included and we were left with the heavy insinuation that one day they would end up together.

I am thankful that the door wasn't completely closed for them.

Very good analysis of the built-up of their relationship.

Episode 6.18 is still a little ambiguous IMO.
Even though Rory tells Jess, that she loves Logan - her words say it is over between her and Jess, but the way she says it and her body language... do not necessarily indicate something definitive. I'm not sure, whether that was Amy's idea, was it Alexis or just the lack of her acting skills.
However, Rory really lives a completely different life at that point of her life, they are also geographically divided.

We really are very lucky that Jess and Rory are still "contenders".
Realistically ... it has been almost 15 years since they dated, Rory is not in love with Jess at the moment any more and she is pregnant with someone else.
But he loves her and...Jess is very popular character.
