I hate that about U.S.... Health is the most important thing, everyone should have the right to comprehensive health care.

Kristen Johnston's book touches on health care, she was over in London when she had her health problems and she said that she was prepared to call her accountant and tell them to sell everything she had because she was in the hospital for a long time. When she got the bill, all she had to pay for was the private room. Now if she had gotten sick in the US, she would have been bankrupted because the could have been close to a million dollars. Yet people in the US get so wound up about health care, I don't get what their problem is. People should not be scared to go to the doctor because they either lack insurance or cannot afford to go even if they do have insurance.

As a kid, I never realised that the UK was somewhat unusual for having free healthcare for everyone. So many of my family members have had serious illnesses, and there is no way they could have afforded to actually pay for the treatment they needed.

Here's a preview for tomorrow night's (April 22) 'Doctors and Nurses' episode on PBS. AE, ELS, and GR are featured in the preview. I'm not sure if this video will work outside of the U.S.

Here's the 'Doctors and Nurses' episode with AE, ELS, GR, and NW. 'ER' is featured for the first twenty minutes. I'm not sure there was anything new revealed, but it was really nice to see all of them again. I'm always struck by how well-spoken and thoughtful the whole cast is/was.
Videos | Pioneers of Television | PBS A few things I found interesting: - GR based her character's HIV story on the experience of a personal friend. - NW holds the record for longest portrayal of a doctor in primetime TV history. - Dr. Greene's death was/is the longest death story line in primetime history (two years). - Loved ELS retelling the story of him and George being chased by a group of women in Chicago. I also did not know about Noah administering someone with an IV for real while they were shooting in the Congo. The '22' gesture is something I think I heard/saw once before, but never in that much detail. Also, I am glad they touched on how the original cast would 'throw away' sentimental moments because they knew real doctors would never react in the Grey's Anatomy way (come on, Anthony & co. were clearly dissing it without naming names. ) |

Thankfully PBS had the smarts to not include Grey's in this show.
